Jalasoft recently concluded its annual Jala QA Days, an event dedicated to learning, collaboration, and industry best practices. The three-day event featured over seven insightful talks covering a wide range of quality assurance and automation topics, offering attendees a comprehensive understanding of the industry's latest trends and best practices.
Quality Assurance (QA) testing is a fundamental aspect that shaped the company's inception. When Jalasoft was founded, its entire team comprised just six quality engineers (QEs) who laid the groundwork for Jalasoft's growth and success.
Today, QA testing remains a vital pillar of Jalasoft's operations, reflecting its enduring importance and unwavering dedication to excellence. The Jala QA Days represent just one of the many avenues through which we uphold these high standards.
The event brought together industry experts, thought leaders, and professionals from across the globe, fostering an environment of shared knowledge and expertise. Attendees could engage in interactive sessions, participate in demonstrations, and network with peers, enhancing their skills and expanding their professional networks.
Key highlights included sessions on automated accessibility testing to promote inclusivity and enhance user experience, as well as talks on automated testing, shift left testing, visual testing, early software testing strategies, and best practices for writing technical documentation on software testing. These presentations gave attendees a well-rounded perspective on the latest advancements and strategies in the field.
Jalasoft's commitment to excellence was evident throughout the event, with a focus on practical applications and real-world solutions. Participants left with actionable takeaways, ready to implement new ideas and methodologies to our organization.
"We are thrilled with the success of this year's Quality Assurance & Automation Days," said Sergio Gomez Jimenez, one of the professionals who oversaw this year's organization. "Our goal was to create a platform where professionals could come together to share knowledge, explore new technologies, and inspire innovation."
Best Practices in Software Testing
Daniel Gomez Betancur and Rodrigo Garcia Saenz delivered an insightful talk on Automated Accessibility Testing, emphasizing its importance in promoting inclusivity and enhancing the user experience for all digital product users. During the presentation, Gomez Betancur demonstrated how to identify violations of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) on a web page using Axe, an open-source tool that facilitates accessibility analysis within automation frameworks using JavaScript.
Other valuable insights were provided by Jorge Ramirez Murillo, who discussed Visual Testing with Percy. Percy is a platform that automates visual QA processes, helping to catch visual bugs and gain insights into any UI changes with each commit. His session covered cross-browser and responsive comparisons between commits, how to create your own project, and the basics of coding in TypeScript to upload snapshots.
Manuel Santa Maria discussed Shift Left testing, a term that has become increasingly relevant and whose meaning varies depending on who you ask. In his presentation, he explored different perspectives on Shift Left testing, highlighting both optimistic and critical views. The aim was to share experiences and spark a debate about the meaning of the term and the concrete practices it brings to teams implementing this approach.
In addition to these highlighted sessions, many other talks throughout the three-day software event provided valuable knowledge and insights into various aspects of software testing, making the QA & Automation Days event an enriching experience for all attendees.
Meetpoint: QA Testing the integration of the Metaverse
This insightful presentation was delivered by Jalasoft's esteemed researchers, Dennis del Castillo, Hector Tanabe, and Javier Roca. During the session, they provided an overview of their ongoing project, Meetpoint -a collaborative endeavor between Jalasoft R&D and Jala University- aimed at integration with the Metaverse.
The speakers shed light on the project's challenges, particularly emphasizing the efforts of the quality assurance team in ensuring the integrity and user-friendliness of the final product.
Jalasoft's Practice Groups
The driving force behind this year's success was Jalasoft's QA Testing Practice Group, a team of dedicated professionals focused on shaping the career paths and profiles of QA and Automation experts. One session focused on the necessary requirements and steps that need to be taken by a Jalasoft staff engineer to get promoted to Senior. Due to our stringent standards and rigorous testing, very few reach the level that Jalasoft sets as the standard for becoming a Senior engineer. We take this very seriously, as it reflects the expertise, dedication, expertise dedication and experience accumulated over the years. Just as our junior engineers surpass the industry norm, our senior engineers have earned their distinction through years of proven excellence and commitment.
They are also committed to recommending relevant training, certifications, and professional development opportunities. Looking ahead, Jalasoft's QA Practice Group plans to build on the success of this year's event by continuing to support the QA and automation community through ongoing educational initiatives and future events.
